200×85 Heads To Titletown

Combining two of the most storied tourneys in Massachusetts’ hockey history

Alright, just take a second to get it all out of your system. All of the ‘Good Will Hunting’ references, the quips about ‘your cousin from Boston’, and the “pahk the cah in Hahvahd Yahd-s”.

Feel better now? Alright, let’s get into it…kid.

200×85 is heading up North this February to drop the puck at the CCM Boston Ocean State tournament. This brand new event combines two of the oldest and longest-running youth hockey tourneys in the country: the CCM Boston Invite and the Ocean State Classic. By joining forces, the two tournaments will combine their resources, venues, and legacies, to create the baddest tournament that Beantown has ever seen.

Speaking of venues, the 2022 event will be taking place at New England Sports Center, the largest ice sports venue in North America. This rink features eight full sized sheets for competition, a pro shop, arcade, and two restaurants that overlook the ice. The barn is going to be rocking for the entire three day span of the tournament, as over 100 teams from across the United States are shipping up to Boston this February.

The CCM Boston Ocean State Tournament builds on the successful history of the Ocean State Classic, which began in 1972 and has featured some of the biggest stars in hockey history. In fact, NHL Hall of Famers like Steve Yzerman (1978), Doug Weight (1985), Jeremy Roenick (1985) and Stanley Cup winner Ray Shero (1977) made names for themselves at the Ocean State Classic.

Stefan Demopoulos, our New England Regional Director and resident ‘Boston guy’ says that the 2022 tournament is shaping up to be a wicked good time. “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to build off of the legacy of two incredible events,” Stefan added. “So much high caliber talent has come out of the state of Massachusetts over the years, and it’s amazing to be hosting a tournament that’s regarded as a proving ground for young hockey players.”

Hockey is part of Massachusetts’  DNA, but there’s plenty to do in this town in addition to the tournament action. Teams and families can experience a duck boat tour through Titletown, catch a B’s game, and even watch some dudes with powdered wigs reenact the Boston Tea Party (which is surprisingly electric). Not to mention that parents and coaches can grab a cold Sam Adams in the hometown of the man himself. Need we say more?

Register your team today for the CCM Boston Ocean State tournament and see for yourself why Boston is the best hockey town in America!
