CCM 2022 Euro Invite Recap

CCM Selects put to the test during European hockey tours.

July – August 2022

And just like that, another summer at the CCM Euro Invite is in the books. The world’s most unique hockey summer tournament lived up to the hype and raised the bar for what a European hockey tour should be. No other tournament can provide the unique blend of competition and culture that the CCM Euro Invites have to offer. Our players had the opportunity to compete in two of Europe’s most scenic cities while simultaneously exploring the museums and restaurants of the surrounding mountain villages.

The CCM Selects teams faced teams representing Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, and Russia. As the only American team in the event, the CCM Selects players gained valuable exposure to European talent in a highly competitive tournament. “Our CCM Selects teams were able to compete with some of the top international hockey clubs in the Bled Euro Invite,” said Justin Lewandowski, VP of Hockey Operations at 200×85. “It is an incredible experience to witness the different styles of hockey on the big ice. Players received exposure to new languages and philosophies in a different environment.”

The experience off the ice was just as incredible.

The CCM Selects teams in Bratislava explored the Red Stone Castle and Bratislava Castle, took a guided city tour of Old Town Bratislava, and even took a boat tour down the Danube River. A fan favorite from the trip was the barbecue dinner that included fabulous local wine and unbelievable cuisine. With free time and travel days built into the schedule, families took their excursions to places like Vienna, Budapest, Warsaw, and more.

Bled’s adventures were equally as epic.

CCM Selects players and their families experienced the tour of Bled Castle, toured the Ljubljana City Center, hiked the incredible nature and scenery at the Vintgar Gorge, and visited the Planica Nordic Center. A few daredevils even experienced the longest zipline in Europe at Sava Zipline, while others chose white water rafting on the Sava River.

“Playing hockey in a foreign country with teammates from all over the world and learning about culture outside the US makes for a great experience,” said Sasha Ristic, VP of Business Development at 200×85. “The families and players were so happy that they already began asking where we can go next year!”
